Given Barcelona struggles with the RB position and our well publicised failure to sign Cancelo when he first wanted to join us, as a Culer, it really rubs salt in the wound to see two top tier clubs treating the switch of a world class RB/LB so casually. Makes me think 🤔. I miss those confident days.

Cancelo wasn't playing since WC anyways. The 3 games he featured in City were all losing with him on the pitch lol.
City play with a 3-2-5. It used to be Dias+Stones/Laporte+Walker and then Cancelo+Rodri.
But now Rico Lewis is inverting and building the 2 with Rodri. So we need a defensively solid LB who slots in as one of the 3 atb. Which Ake is doing and doing amazingly.
I could see City going for Davies next summer. Basically transitioning from Cancelo and Walker to Davies and Lewis with Davies being the defensive one in the 3, using his pace against counter attacks just like Walker used to do on the other side

Going forward? Cancelo is world class. Defensively? He’s a liability. It’s as simple as that. He didn’t want to be rotated, wanted to leave, so they let him leave as they’ve said time and time again they will do with unhappy players. Ake provides more stability, they aren’t even playing with proper fullbacks in that system. On paper it looks like a bad loss, in practice it’s more money for them to spend in the summer and with the squad they have the system they play they will be perfectly fine. Only City are expected to win the league every year while teams like Chelsea spend 400m in one window and are in 10th. Relax.

Rico Lewis isn't even that good. People only think he is good because he plays for City and City can make anyone look good. He always looks like he doesn't know what position he is meant to be in, he can't defend. He just isn't good at all.

  5. Joel Ahn

I don't think this is a mistake because they can play 3-5-2 which allows Man City to play Haaland and Julian Alvarez together. Also adding another center back like Ruben Dias.

  6. TeamRainbow

Imagine having arguably the best right back in the world (a position with very few available world class players) and giving him away to a big rival in the Champions League one day before the transfer window closes..

  7. Buyisiwe Junerose Gumede

If I was a top player or a player with high potential, I would not want to play for Pep Guardiola. The guy treats managing like playing ultimate team when you've got all the best players. Just keeps dropping and changing them for no valid reason. Just out of curiosity. That is very frustrating. No wonder Leroy Sane and Sterling left🗑️😒
